My introduction to
Thunderbirds happened roughly fifteen years ago
thanks to my boyfriend at that time who was a big fan of
everything Gerry Anderson. I remember I started to make
up stories, though as that was long before I had a
computer those stories are now lost - which is probably
a good thing, as they were very much of the 'Mary Sue'
type. I soon drifted off to other fandoms with a short
stop in the world of Captain Scarlet and the
Mysterons. This is notable because that's where my
penname 'Sapphire' originated, thanks to a 'Lt.
Sapphire' I've created there and who happened to be
another Mary Sue (I think quite a few authors have
written a MS at one point or another...luckily, most of
us do grow out of it).
                  For the longest time I
didn't think of Thunderbirds, until at the beginning of
2004 I happened to sit in a movie theatre in Frankfurt in
order to watch Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
for the umpteenth time and the trailer for the Thunderbirds
movie came on. My friend didn't quite understand why I was so
                  giddy afterwards.
                  Finally, after a long
time of waiting, the movie came to the theatres and I
naturally went to see it. Of course, I know there were a lot
things wrong with it, but all in all, I really like it.
There's no way to describe the exhilaration I felt when
Thunderbirds 1, 2 and 3 landed in Jubilee Park in London. My
                  inner geek certainly rejoiced.
I do write fanfic on and
off - that is, it can be I don't write anything for a year or
longer, until my muse decides all of a sudden to pop out of
the woodwork and prod me to write again.
