You knew how your laugh made me laugh

You knew the sound of your voice soothed me
You knew how I needed you those lonely nights
You knew as you sat reading to me
You knew as you kissed my forehead
You knew when the contractions hit
You knew when you told me you loved me for the very last time
You knew, Mother. You always knew.
