I remember Friday
nights as some of the favourite nights of my childhood.
For the obvious reasons, of course, and also because it
was the one night of the week that my brother, my sister
and I could sit down in family harmony and all watch
something we enjoyed without squabbling over the remote.
Our tastes varied wildly, but each one of us loved The
Thunderbirds, shown on repeat in the early nineties.
Even our parents could sit and watch it with us,
chuckling over the outdated technology of the future and
us 'shhhing' them as we waited with baited breath for
                        those fabulous machines to appear.
                  Years later, and those
same episodes are showing again and yet this time I want to
discover the character of the boys, how their lives have
developed around them (yes, I know, so far I've only played
with their childhood years, but be patient, I'm sure there is
more to come!) and this time I have access to a laptop! The
                  world beware!
                  I don't know why I write
fanfiction, but I do know I was doing it before I knew there
was such a thing. None of our favourite programs escaped my
own spin and I would lie awake for hours telling stories to my
little sister. I couldn't get her to go on a Thunderbirds
jaunt with me, however, as she much preferred the glamorous
angels of 'Captain Scarlet', but those two happy pastimes from
so long ago have finally been able to combine.
                  So sit back, brace
yourselves and count down from five because THUNDERBIRDS
                  ARE GO!
