I'm too young to have watched the Thunderbirds when it was originally on, and got interested when I saw the movie. I thought it was a great movie (you may commence with the throwing of the various vegetables) until I started reading the fanfic on TIC, and discovered that Alan is NOT a teenager, Brains isn't Jeff's age. I was hooked without ever seeing an episode, just by reading the fanfic. I got the DVD set as a gift from my husband and once I started watching the episodes, I was really hooked. My hobbies (besides writing fanfic), include giving out service dog information and being a disabilities advocate. I'm married, with no children, unless you count my service dogs, of which there have been 3. I've worked with a service dog for about 15 years. I can't imagine not having a dog at my side to assist me. I am also the president of a local Star Trek club, and I do costuming with a local Star Wars group, where we march in parades, and do community service. (Imagine having your own spotter, even though you're not a face character (Luke, Ben, etc), just to keep the kids from mobbing the dog). My current dog's name is Chewbacca and he looks like him too. My husband comes up with my dog's names, at least he has for the last two, first "This is my Dobie, "Gillis", and now "Chewie". I like helping people with their problems, and I guess so do other people as I'm one of the top service dog experts in the United States as designated by the Department of Justice. I have a 400 page website about service dogs, as well as my other hobbies.
